First Session


 
That was my first class at the University of Portsmouth, which started with introducing our tutors and the similarity and dependency which is existing between different aspects of architecture such as interior design and landscaping.

Then Oren read a story which was describing a scene from a different point of view.at first look, that was an ordinary scene but when we had to discuss with other students about the story, it seemed a dark one. 

Then we were told that draw the scene and what we heard from the story by using some tools like colour chalk and grey A3 paper.

As I pointed out, the scene was dark, with a plastic bottle on the ground and a dead rat, I just could draw this with black And white. Firstly I decide to indicate the characters between two cores, which are The beginning and end of the story. 

Then I drew them in five separate cloudy shapes. 
after that, I tried to combine these shapes and cores like a face and illustrate their independence with this idea.

 
                                                                               


Then we were free to check out other student's idea and take photos of them. Most of them tried to show the characters but the other ones made some conseptual drawings from point of their view. 




People have different understandings of an exact story or phenomenon and in my opinion. drawing is a suitable way to share their understanding and ideas.

EPC Workshop, Back to Nature

For this session, we bought a piece of furniture from a charity shop and turned it into a new object. Me, Maryam and Qazaal decided to buy an old wooden cupboard which was useless and bring it to the EPC workshop which had lots of challenges for us!  After we took the cupboard from the shop to the workshop, we started to take the pieces apart and we shared the wooden pieces between us.  Then I had to make a decision that what kind of object do I what to make out of this cupboard! Space, Time and Everyday Life.

We had Pages 6-27 of Henri Lefebvre’s  Rhythmanalysis: Space, Time and Everyday Life as our reading task for week 7. In "Rhythmanalysis," Henri Lefebvre explores our daily routines, like chores and social activities, to uncover hidden patterns and meanings. He believes that by understanding these repeating rhythms, we can gain insights into how society works. Lefebvre also looks at how modern life, with its fast pace and technology, influences our sense of time and space. The book encourages us to think about how our daily habits and the world around us are connected in meaningful ways. After reading this text, I realized how closely we can examine issues. Rhythms exist everywhere in anything and manifest themselves in different ways. They are more comprehensive in STEM subjects as problem-solving methods and in human perspective. Earth and Technology

For this week we had pages 1-14 'The Mangle in Practice,' from Andrew Pickering. In this book he introduces the concept of the "mangle" as a way to understand the complex interactions between humans and technology. Instead of viewing these relationships as predictable and linear, Pickering suggests that they are more like dynamic, evolving processes. He provides examples from scientific and technological practices to illustrate how both humans and machines shape and influence each other in unpredictable ways. The book explores how technologies emerge, evolve, and are continually transformed through interactions with human agents.
