Mapping the site

One of the most important parts of designing a building, is knowing its site analysis which is containing lots of factors. In this task, we have to map our site while thinking about any details separately. I did my mapping by using layering method.

Here is my site which is determined by a yellow line. 




Then I showed the green areas which contain parks, sports grounds and all trees and grass arenas in my site. Abviously they own a large portion in this map. 
 



Most of these green spaces are using for sport purposes which are mapped by pink colour.



These sport fields are organising by sport centers. I showed their buildings and fields all together by red colour.




After that, plases which are using for resdetial purposes are showed in my map by purple colou. mostly they are located in the southern side of my site.




Blue parts are refering to buisiness and commercial places which are playing the most important role in the Portsmouth's economy.




In the middle of the commercial area, we have the places with the most number of tourists and visitors during the weekend. They mostly come to the seaside to visit the Spinnaker tower in person, rent a boat and make fun of their weekend, shop from Gun wharf outlet centre, eat dinner in cosy restaurants and many other attractions.




But I take a look at people who experience a walk in this site during aat people who experience a walk in this site during a week for individual purposes and drew the places and the darker one is for the places with fewer people.




As in importnt factor in todays cities, I noticed the parking spots in this area, we have few of them but according to the portsmouth's population, they are enough. 



Seagulls and Pigeons! I mapped them by brown colour, these are mostly seen near the sea.




Here I used the black colour to provide a map which is related to the area with the highest level of air and water pollution in my site. This polution is mostly come from old ships.




 
And here I combined all the maps and create this site analysis with the mentioned factors which is showing the connections between eich other, for example, the blue area which is about the commercial zone, has more tourists in comparison with the residential area.

EPC Workshop, Back to Nature

For this session, we bought a piece of furniture from a charity shop and turned it into a new object. Me, Maryam and Qazaal decided to buy an old wooden cupboard which was useless and bring it to the EPC workshop which had lots of challenges for us!  After we took the cupboard from the shop to the workshop, we started to take the pieces apart and we shared the wooden pieces between us.  Then I had to make a decision that what kind of object do I what to make out of this cupboard! Space, Time and Everyday Life.

We had Pages 6-27 of Henri Lefebvre’s  Rhythmanalysis: Space, Time and Everyday Life as our reading task for week 7. In "Rhythmanalysis," Henri Lefebvre explores our daily routines, like chores and social activities, to uncover hidden patterns and meanings. He believes that by understanding these repeating rhythms, we can gain insights into how society works. Lefebvre also looks at how modern life, with its fast pace and technology, influences our sense of time and space. The book encourages us to think about how our daily habits and the world around us are connected in meaningful ways. After reading this text, I realized how closely we can examine issues. Rhythms exist everywhere in anything and manifest themselves in different ways. They are more comprehensive in STEM subjects as problem-solving methods and in human perspective.
